The Merano WineFestival 2026 opens with organic wines

The first day of the event will be dedicated to TasteTerroir – bio&dynamica, the itinerary that brings together producers and entities committed to finding new balances between wine, agriculture, and environmental respect.

On Friday, November 6, from 10:00 to 16:30, the Kurhaus and GourmetArena will host tastings dedicated to organic, biodynamic, and natural wines, along with other interpretations of contemporary viticulture.

The program includes SQNPI and Equalitas certified wines, wines made from PIWI varieties, and productions that demonstrate different approaches to the relationship between vineyard, territory, and sustainability.

For those who wish to explore this world through bottles, it is possible to browse the selection of organic wines offered by ALBio Corini, built around territories, small producers, and diverse regional expressions.

What is TasteTerroir – bio&dynamica

TasteTerroir represents the area of the Merano WineFestival dedicated to the most innovative and sustainable interpretations of wine.

The itinerary focuses on entities that work through environmentally conscious agricultural practices, enological research, certifications, and production methods capable of enhancing the identity of the territories.

During the day, several categories will be present:

  • organic wines;
  • biodynamic wines;
  • natural wines;
  • SQNPI and Equalitas certified wines;
  • wines produced from PIWI varieties;
  • amphora-aged wines;
  • No/Low Alcohol proposals.

Alongside wine tastings, the GourmetArena will host Culinaria, featuring gastronomic specialties, spirits, liqueurs, craft beers, territories, consortia, and live cooking moments.

A focus on Riesling and ten protagonists of Italian enology

The 2026 edition of TasteTerroir also includes a special focus on Riesling, a grape variety known for its ability to express elegance, freshness, and territorial identity.

Another announced novelty is "Cult Oenologist," a section that will bring together ten important Italian oenologists chosen by Helmuth Köcher, founder and soul of the Merano WineFestival.

The public will be able to discover some of the labels created through their consultancy and delve into different approaches, technical choices, and interpretations of the relationship between grape variety, territory, and production style.

The section will be hosted on November 6 at the Kurhaus and will follow the same hours as TasteTerroir, from 10:00 to 16:30.

From November 7 to 9, "The Festival" arrives

Saturday 7, Sunday 8, and Monday 9 November will be the time for "The Festival," the heart of the event.

The itinerary will bring together Italian and international companies selected by The WineHunter tasting committees. Visitors will be able to explore areas dedicated to Italian wines, international productions, and award-winning labels.

The main sections will be:

  • Wine Italia, dedicated to wines from different Italian regions;
  • Wine International, featuring international labels and producers;
  • WineHunter Area, dedicated to wines selected by The WineHunter committees;
  • Culinaria, with gastronomic products, spirits, and beers;
  • Territorium & Consortium, dedicated to territories and consortia;
  • Masterclass, with guided tastings and in-depth sessions.

The Festival days will be open from 10:00 to 18:00.

Merano becomes part of the experience

The Merano WineFestival extends beyond the internal spaces of the Kurhaus.

The Fuori Salone transforms Corso Libertà into an open path between territories, consortia, producers, tastings, meetings, and gastronomic demonstrations.

Merano city center thus becomes part of the event. The public can alternate between tastings in the Festival spaces and a stroll through the city's architecture, arcades, gardens, and streets animated by events.

The November timing adds the colors of autumn in South Tyrol to the experience and creates a context very different from traditional fairs hosted exclusively inside large pavilions.

On November 10, focus on Champagne and Classic Method

On Tuesday, November 10, the event will conclude with "Catwalk Champagne & More."

The day will be dedicated to Champagne, Metodo Classico sparkling wines, and various interpretations of bubbles, with tastings and meetings in the Kurhaus in Merano.

The event will be open from 10:00 to 16:00, according to the schedule published in the official presentation of the event.

Why the bio&dynamica day is interesting

The world of organic wine encompasses different territories, producers, and approaches. Certification tells part of the story, while each bottle continues to express the characteristics of the grape variety, vintage, and choices made in the vineyard and cellar.

A day entirely dedicated to these productions allows for comparing different interpretations and directly learning about some of the entities working on the relationship between quality, territorial identity, and reduced environmental impact.

Those who wish to continue their journey can consult the ALBio Corini organic wine catalog, featuring labels from various Italian regions and selected to highlight their connection with their territories of origin.

ALBio Corini's point of view

For ALBio Corini, the opening of the Merano WineFestival dedicated to TasteTerroir – bio&dynamica represents an interesting opportunity to observe the evolution of organic wine and other forms of viticulture attentive to the territory.

The presence of producers, certifications, resistant grape varieties, and different winemaking methods creates a space for discussion that goes beyond definitions and brings attention back to the bottles, vineyards, and production choices.

The value of the event also comes from the opportunity to taste, ask questions, and directly meet the people who work throughout the wine supply chain.
