Bottiglia di Montepulciano di Abruzzo

Collection: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Organic

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo is the signature wine of a region that lived in oenological obscurity for centuries, only to emerge as one of Italy's most interesting appellations. The Montepulciano grape variety—not to be confused with Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, which is Sangiovese—is probably native to Abruzzo, although its spread in Marche and other Adriatic regions has fueled a historical debate that has never been fully resolved.

Curiosity: Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane was the first DOCG in Abruzzo, recognized in 2003. The Cerasuolo version—a rosé made from the same grape variety—is considered by many oenologists to be one of the best Italian rosés, capable of aging up to 10 years.

In its organic version, Montepulciano d'Abruzzo tells the story of a territory still little contaminated by intensive agriculture: deep ruby red color, soft and enveloping tannins, a bouquet of black cherry, violet, and spices. Perfect with arrosticini, grilled lamb, and wild boar ragu pasta.
