Collection: Wines for cheeses

Our selection to quickly add to your cart

Cheese is one of the most complex and most satisfying wine pairings. Fresh cheeses, soft cheeses, aged cheeses, blue cheeses: each type calls for a different wine. Our selection of Italian organic wines for cheeses covers all pairings – from aromatic whites for fresh cheeses, to structured reds for aged cheeses, to great sweet and passito wines for blue cheeses.

All wines come from small, certified organic producers, selected by ALBio Corini for quality and territoriality.

Aromatic whites for fresh and soft cheeses

For mozzarella, burrata, stracchino, crescenza, fresh goat cheeses or soft cheeses like Brie, choose an aromatic and fresh white. Piedmont Viognier DOC, Manzoni Bianco, Chardonnay and Malvasia IGT Venezia Giulia are elegant choices that enhance the creaminess without overpowering it.

Structured whites and sparkling wines for semi-aged cheeses

For Asiago, Fontina, Montasio, semi-aged Pecorino or semi-hard cheeses, choose a white with more structure or elegant sparkling wines. Gewurztraminer, Vermentino di Gallura Superiore, Saten Franciacorta and Brut Nature Franciacorta are refined and always successful pairings.

Reds for aged and hard cheeses

For Parmigiano Reggiano, Grana Padano, aged Pecorino, Castelmagno or hard cheeses, choose a red with structure and tannin. Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba, Nebbiolo d'Alba and Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva are classic and always satisfying pairings.

Great wines for blue cheeses and special occasions

For Gorgonzola, Roquefort, Stilton or intense blue cheeses, the sweet-savory contrast is key. Catarratto Vendemmia Tardiva is the ideal choice. For a board of important cheeses at a special dinner, Barolo Bricco Boschis or Barolo Riserva Vigna San Giuseppe are legendary pairings with great aged Piedmontese cheeses.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which wine should I pair with Parmigiano Reggiano?

Lambrusco is the traditional Emilian pairing, but in our selection Nebbiolo d'Alba or Cannonau di Sardegna Riserva are excellent choices — structure and tannin that hold up to the savoriness of Parmigiano.

Which wine should I choose for Gorgonzola?

A sweet or passito wine: Catarratto Vendemmia Tardiva is the perfect choice. The contrast between the sweetness of the wine and the savoriness of the blue cheese is one of the most surprising pairings in Italian tradition.

Can I pair sparkling wines with cheeses?

Yes, especially for fresh and semi-aged cheeses. Saten Franciacorta or Brut Nature are elegant and always successful pairings.

Which wine should I choose for a mixed cheese board?

A structured aromatic white like Gewurztraminer covers most cheeses. Alternatively, a soft red like Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba is versatile and never overwhelming.

Are all the wines in this selection organic?

Yes — all ALBio Corini wines come from certified organic producers.
