Viognier is one of the world's most captivating and mysterious white grape varieties, originating from the northern Rhône Valley in France, where it produces the legendary Condrieu—one of the rarest and most expensive white wines in the world. Its story is almost one of survival: in the 1960s, it was practically extinct, with fewer than 14 hectares cultivated worldwide. Its resurgence was slow and arduous, led by a few visionary producers who believed in its potential.

The presence of Viognier in Piedmont is a recent and experimental story: some producers in the Langhe and Monferrato began cultivating it in the 2000s, attracted by its aromatic complexity and its ability to adapt to continental climates with marked temperature fluctuations. The result is a wine that retains the varietal characteristics of Viognier—intense aromas of peach, apricot, and flowers—but with a freshness and minerality that the Rhône does not always offer. Curiosity: Viognier is one of the few white grape varieties that is traditionally co-fermented with a red grape variety: in Côte-Rôtie, one of the most prestigious appellations of the Rhône, producers add up to 20% Viognier to Syrah during fermentation. The result is a red wine with floral aromas and an unusual softness—an ancient technique that is now being rediscovered in Italy.

In its organic version, Viognier Piemonte is a wine of great aromatic personality: brilliant golden yellow color, intense aromas of yellow peach, ripe apricot, violet, jasmine, and a spicy note of ginger. On the palate, it is soft, enveloping, with a structure that balances the aromatic richness.
