Collection: Gewürztraminer Alto Adige Organic
Gewürztraminer is probably the most recognizable white grape variety in the world due to its extraordinary aromatic profile — and its name already reveals everything: Gewürz in German means "spicy." But the history of this grape is deeply linked to South Tyrol, and in particular to the small town of Tramin (Termeno sulla Strada del Vino), from which it takes its name and where it probably originated.
The first mentions of Traminer as a distinct grape variety date back to the 12th century, in documents from the Novacella monastery near Bressanone. From Tramin, it spread throughout Europe — to Alsace, Germany, Austria — becoming one of the most cultivated grape varieties in the world. The paradox is that today, in the town that gave it its name, Gewürztraminer occupies only a few hectares: local producers consider it a difficult and capricious grape that requires particular attention and care to express its potential.
Curiosity: Gewürztraminer is one of the few white wines that pairs magnificently with the most intense blue cheeses — Roquefort, Gorgonzola, Stilton — thanks to its residual sweetness and its aromatic structure that balances the savoriness and spiciness of the cheeses. A counter-intuitive pairing that always surprises guests. It is also the most recommended white wine with Thai, Indian, and North African cuisine: its softness and exotic aromas perfectly complement oriental spices.
In its organic version, Gewürztraminer Alto Adige is an intense and memorable sensory experience: golden yellow color, explosive aromas of rose, lychee, mango, ginger, cinnamon, and exotic flower petals. On the palate, it is soft, enveloping, with a natural sweetness that doesn't overwhelm thanks to its alpine acidity. Pairings: foie gras, spicy Thai and Indian cuisine, blue cheeses like Gorgonzola PDO, exotic fruit desserts, shellfish with aromatic sauces.
