2022
Primitivo Salento IGT BIO comes from the 45 hectares of vineyards at Masseria Masciullo, a historic 17th-century winery owned by the Zullo family in Brindisi. This estate has been organically cultivating Primitivo for generations, with manual harvesting in crates and traditional winemaking that doesn't chase trends: eight days of maceration, twelve months of aging in silos, and four months in the bottle. The result is a Primitivo that tastes of Salento, not of winemaking techniques.
The color is intense ruby red with violet reflections. The nose reveals ripe red fruits, blackberry, plum, and a sweet spice. On the palate, it is soft, warm, and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a persistent finish that evokes the Puglian land.

Recommended for
For those who want to discover Primitivo in its most direct and territorial form — without oak barrels, without artificial concentration. It's the right bottle for those looking for a generous but not tiring Southern red, to be opened without ceremony and finished without regret.
When to drink it
It's already enjoyable today, but it has all the characteristics to evolve magnificently over the next 3-5 years if stored correctly. Perfect for an informal dinner with friends.
Taste Characteristics
A soft and enveloping Primitivo, where the generosity of the grape expresses itself without excess. Ripe fruit dominates the sip, supported by sweet spices and a warm, persistent finish that invites another sip.
Why we chose this wine
Because Masseria Masciullo is one of the most serious organic estates in Salento: a 17th-century winery that chose not to change its methods when everyone else was changing. Primitivo is their home grape — and you can taste it. We offer it because it is consistent with our selection: artisanal quality, affordable price, and recognizable terroir in the glass.
FAQ
What dishes pair well with Primitivo Salento IGT BIO?
Mixed grills, roasts, pasta dishes with meat ragù, aged cheeses. Also excellent with orecchiette alle cime di rapa for those who love regional pairings.
Is it a certified organic wine?
Yes. Masseria Masciullo cultivates organically on 45 hectares of vineyards, without synthetic pesticides in the vineyard.
How long can it age?
3-5 years in the best vintages. It's a wine designed for immediate pleasure, but with enough structure to evolve positively.
Is it different from the Negroamaro from the same winery?
Yes. Primitivo is softer and rounder, with more velvety tannins. Negroamaro is more austere and Mediterranean. They are two different characters from the same territory.
