There's a wine that's enjoyed in the hills of Diano d'Alba even before one considers a more important wine. They pour it while waiting for the braised meat to finish cooking, they take it to the vineyard during pruning, they share it with passersby. It's Dolcetto — and Bula, an organic winery in Diano d'Alba, makes it with the same care they put into everything else.
Bula is a certified organic winery in the Langhe region, rooted in the municipality of Diano d'Alba — one of the most suitable areas for Dolcetto in all of Piedmont. Their Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG BIO comes from the Sorì — the south-southwest-facing hillside vineyards typical of the Langhe, where the sun shines longer and the grapes ripen with an aromatic concentration that flat vineyards cannot provide. The DOCG Diano d'Alba is reserved for the best vineyards in the municipality, with lower yields compared to classic Dolcetto d'Alba: this is not a detail, it's the reason why this Dolcetto has an extra edge.
Fermentation in steel is brief, to preserve the freshness and fruitiness of the grape variety. Bottled in spring, it is ready immediately — no waiting, no ceremony.
It has an intense garnet red color with violet reflections. On the nose, cherry, blackberry, currant, and a slight spice. On the palate, it's full, harmonious, savory, with that slightly almond-like finish that is the unmistakable signature of Dolcetto.

Recommended for
For those who love fruity, soft, and smooth reds. Dolcetto is the wine of Piedmontese conviviality — one that is uncorked without ceremony and always finishes sooner than expected. It's the right choice for those who want a pleasant red that's immediately enjoyable, versatile at the table, and easy to pair. And for those who want to understand why in the Langhe, even "everyday" wine is made with uncommon care.
When to drink it
Immediately, young, when the fruit is at its peak. It doesn't need aging — it's a wine to open and enjoy, preferably in good company. Slightly chilled in summer, at cellar temperature in winter.
Taste Characteristics
Soft, fruity, with that slightly almond-like finish that is the signature of Dolcetto. It's not a demanding wine — it's a generous wine that immediately delivers on its promises and never disappoints. The DOCG Diano d'Alba gives it a structure and concentration that classic Dolcetto d'Alba often lacks.
Why we chose this wine
Because Bula works the Sorì of Diano d'Alba with organic rigor and respect for the grape variety. Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG is not a fallback wine — it is the most serious denomination for this grape variety in Piedmont, with controlled yields and selected vineyards. We chose it because it is the Dolcetto that convinces even those who think they don't like Dolcetto, and because it represents the everyday Langhe at its best.
Frequently Asked Questions
What dishes pair well with Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba?
Piedmontese appetizers, vitello tonnato, carne cruda all’albese, tajarin, pizza, cured meats, fresh and medium-aged cheeses. It's a wine that goes well with almost everything — and that is its greatest asset.
Why is it called Dolcetto if it's not sweet?
The name probably derives from the natural softness of the grape variety, not from its residual sugar. It is a dry wine, but with a roundness that makes it immediately pleasant. The final almond note is its signature — not sweetness, but softness.
What is the difference between Dolcetto di Diano d'Alba DOCG and Dolcetto d'Alba DOC?
The DOCG Diano d'Alba is reserved for the best vineyards in the municipality of Diano d'Alba, with lower yields per hectare compared to the DOC Alba. Less grapes per plant means more aromatic concentration and structure in the final wine.
How long does it keep?
2-4 years from the harvest. It's a wine to be drunk young to best appreciate its freshness and fruitiness.
