Review your cart →The Rosato di Negroamaro Salento IGT BIO comes from the same organic vineyard as Masseria Masciullo, a winery housed in a 15th-century masseria owned by the Zullo family in Brindisi, in the heart of Puglia. But here, the Negroamaro is treated in a completely different way: hand-harvested in the last week of September, chilled to 4°C in a refrigerated cellar, macerated in the press overnight, and left on the lees until February. A slow and careful process that transforms a grape variety usually used for structured red wines into a rosé of great finesse.
The color is a vibrant cherry pink. On the nose are red berries, pomegranate, flowers, and a saline note typical of Salento. On the palate, it is fresh, fragrant, and savory, with a persistence that is surprising for a rosé at this price.
Grape variety: 100% Negroamaro | Vintage: 2024 | Alcohol: 12.5% | Format: 0.75 l
Serving temperature: 10–12°C
Vinification: Hand-harvested, grapes chilled to 4°C, macerated in the press overnight, left on the lees until February.
Who is it recommended for?
For anyone looking for a Southern rosé that is anything but ordinary. Masseria Masciullo's rosé-style Negroamaro is a versatile and distinctive bottle—perfect for anyone wanting something different from the usual Provence rosés, with a clear sense of place and history in every glass.
When to drink it
It is already enjoyable today, but it has all the characteristics to develop beautifully over the next 1–2 years if stored properly. Ideal chilled in summer, but also excellent in autumn with more flavorful first courses.
Taste profile
A deep and savory rosé, where the freshness of the fruit meets a typically Salento minerality. The finish is long and clean, with a liveliness that makes it perfect at the table from the first course to dessert.
Why we chose this wine
Because Masseria Masciullo's Rosato di Negroamaro is one of the few Southern rosés that truly expresses its terroir. The vinification is artisanal and unconventional—chilling the grapes and leaving the wine on the lees for a long time are choices that make a difference in the glass. It fits our selection because it combines organic quality, precise technique, and a price that needs no justification.
FAQ
What dishes does Rosato di Negroamaro Salento IGT BIO pair well with?
Italian-style antipasti, fish soups, orecchiette with turnip tops, grilled white meats, and fresh cheeses. Also excellent as a summer aperitif.
How is it different from other rosés?
The vinification is unusual: the grapes are chilled to 4°C before pressing, and the wine remains on the lees until February. This process gives it structure and complexity that industrial rosés lack.
Is it a certified organic wine?
Yes. Masseria Masciullo farms 45 hectares of vineyards in Salento organically, without synthetic pesticides.
Should it be served very cold?
10–12°C is the ideal temperature. Too cold and the aromas are masked; too warm and the freshness is flattened. Take it out of the fridge 10 minutes before serving.
