Review your cart →The Primitivo Salento IGT BIO comes from the 45 hectares of vineyards owned by Masseria Masciullo, a winery housed in a 15th-century masseria belonging to the Zullo family in Brindisi, in the heart of Puglia. A winery that has grown Primitivo organically for generations, with hand-harvesting in crates and artisanal winemaking that does not follow trends: eight days of maceration, twelve months of aging in silos, and four in the bottle. The result is a Primitivo that tastes of Salento, not of enological technique.
The color is an intense ruby red with purple reflections. On the nose, ripe red fruits, blackberry, plum, and a sweet spice. On the palate, it is soft, warm, and enveloping, with velvety tannins and a persistent finish that recalls the Puglian land.
Grape variety: 100% Primitivo | Vintage: 2022 | Alcohol: 13% | Format: 0.75 l

Winemaking: Hand-harvested in crates, first ten days of October. 8 days of maceration, 12 months in silos, 4 months in the bottle.
Who is it recommended for
For those who want to discover Primitivo in its most direct and territorial form — without barriques, without artificial concentration. It is the right bottle for those looking for a Southern red that is generous but not overwhelming, to be opened without ceremony and finished without regrets.
When to drink it
It is already enjoyable today, but it has all the characteristics to evolve beautifully over the next 3–5 years if stored correctly. Perfect for an informal dinner with friends.
Taste characteristics
A soft and enveloping Primitivo, in which the generosity of the grape variety is expressed without excess. Ripe fruit dominates the sip, supported by a sweet spice and a warm, persistent finish that invites another sip.
Why we chose this wine
Because Masseria Masciullo is one of the most serious organic wineries in Salento: a 17th-century winery that chose not to change its methods when everyone else did. Primitivo is their signature grape variety — and you can taste it. We offer it because it is consistent with our selection: artisanal quality, an affordable price, and a recognizable sense of place in the glass.
FAQ
What dishes does Primitivo Salento IGT BIO pair well with?
Mixed grilled meats, roasts, first courses with meat ragouts, aged cheeses. Also excellent with orecchiette with turnip tops for those who love regional pairings.
Is it a certified organic wine?
Yes. Masseria Masciullo grows organic grapes on 45 hectares of vineyards, without synthetic pesticides in the vineyard.
How long can it age?
3–5 years in the best vintages. It is a wine designed for immediate enjoyment, but with enough structure to evolve positively.
Is it different from the Negroamaro from the same winery?
Yes. The Primitivo is softer and rounder, with more velvety tannins. The Negroamaro is more austere and Mediterranean. They are two different characters of the same territory.
